How it all started…
West Hills Community Church at Evergreen started in 2010 with a desire by a few people to reach the multitudes in San Jose (the 10th largest city in the US) with the gospel. The area of Evergreen was chosen for two reasons: First, it was the biggest district in San Jose boasting over 100,000 people with a high multi-ethnic makeup. Second, there were very few churches that proclaimed the gospel in this area. So armed with conviction by the Holy Spirt and the faithfulness of a few people, we began to meet in the park, explaining the gospel publicly and inviting others to join us. In Fall of 2010 we held our first public worship service at the Evergreen Community Center. God is faithful.
Where are we now?
West Hills has grown since then. The church has grown through the gripping power of the gospel, through people converted and discipled, through people who joined the church family as partners and began contributing to the mission, through people who developed into leaders, and through much prayer. God is faithful.
What lies ahead?
We desire to hold to our values and fulfill our vision of making disciples, multiplying community groups and developing leaders. By those means, we endeavor to plant more God-glorifying, gospel-centered, disciple-making churches in the San Jose area and South Bay. We are committed to be a highly collaborative church that works with other churches in the Bay Area to see this vision unfold. God is faithful.
