At the dawn of the 2017 Advent season, we at West Hills Evergreen are as encouraged by what God is doing among us as we have ever been! After a year packed with overseas and local missions, rich spiritual growth within the church, and more exciting ideas for the coming year, we are grateful to be taking the month of December to pause and prayerfully reflect and celebrate the incarnation of Christ our Lord.

This year, we will be exploring Advent themes through the lens of the Apostles creed, focusing in particular on Who Christ is and what His coming means in light of redemptive history. The parts of the creed we will be exploring are as follows:

“I believe…in Jesus [who is the] Christ, God’s Only Son, our Lord. Conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried…descended…rose… seated…He will come again to judge…”

The way we will do this over the next four weeks will be:

  1. Jesus who is the Christ (Mt 2:1-12)
  2. Jesus who is God’s Only Son, our Lord (Lk 1:26-33)
  3. Jesus as Divine Miracle (Mt 1:18-25)
  4. Jesus born to reveal God in grace and truth (Jn 1:14-18)

We pray that the coming weeks will bless you as much as preparing it has blessed us!
